HBX Group x Bioscore: understanding the value of sustainable certification in hospitality

Sustainability certification has become increasingly relevant as travellers, business partners and regulators seek greater transparency and credibility around sustainability claims. Beyond demonstrating commitment to responsible business practices, certification can help hotels establish structured sustainability management processes, improve resource efficiency and communicate their performance through independently verified standards.

Our analysis of the HBX Group hotel portfolio suggests that sustainability-certified hotels outperform non-certified properties across several key commercial indicators. Among the findings highlighted in the infographic:

• Sustainability-certified hotels achieved 16.8% room nights growth, compared with 12.1% for non-certified hotels.

• Sustainability-certified hotels recorded 17.0% gross sales growth, compared with 14.7% for non-certified hotels.

• Currently, 13% of hotels within the HBX Group portfolio are sustainability certified.

 While certification is only one of many factors that influence performance, these insights reinforce a growing industry trend: sustainability and business value are becoming increasingly interconnected.
